Remembering Allah
On the Authority of Abu Huraira (R.A.), Allah's Messenger (S.A.W.) said,
"Allah says, 'I am as My slave thinks I am, and I am with him when he mentions Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws to Me a hand-span length, I draw near to him a forearm's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him in a hurry."
(Sunan Ibn Majah: 3822)
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
One of the very important lesson of this Hadith is be optimistic towards life, specially towards Allah in particular and always expect good omen from Allah. Always ask Allah for His forgiveness rather than expecting His Anger and punishment. So always have a good opinion of Allah and never be pessimistic or despair of his Mercy. Know that He will reward you for your deeds. Hope is preferred over fear whilst both should be present.
Secondly, Hadith shows the importance and benefits of ‘Zikr/Dhikr’ (remembrance of Allah) in all situations of our lives. We can remember Allah with tongue or the heart or by both. Following Allah’s orders and abstaining from His prohibitions is also part of Zikr. Also remember that Allah always rewards our deeds generously beyond our imagination for these Zikr and mentioning the name of Allah all the time. imagination
In this Hadith, Allah is encouraging us to keep struggling to draw close to Him through our good deeds as when we make the effort to draw close to Him, He will assist us, make it easy for us to find Him, forgive us and shower His mercy upon us. This is a tremendous bounty and mercy from Allah because we are in complete need of Him whilst Allah is absolutely free of any needs.
